5 of 5 Absolutely fantastic! December 10, 2019

Ive read just about every root beer enthusiasts blog about this rendition of root beer.

This rootbeer was a top 5 and if I can get a second bottle, might be top 3. Its full of great tasting (for me) ingredients. The maple, the vanilla, licorice, all work well. Its been said it tastes chaotic and the flavors dont meld, but I will disagree completely. I like a rootbeer to be a root beer at its core but appreciate something else when added, and this has really done an outstanding job of blending those flavors. There are more than the three I mentioned, but my I cannot distinguish yet as I am new to picking them out. If you enjoy Virgils, or any licorice hinted brand your are going to love this. If you do not like licorice you will dislike it- plain as that. Ive noticed those who review it with low marks consistently place licorice flavored root beer low. However, I think this is as good a root beer as you can buy with few rivals.

2 of 5 You like "different"? June 28, 2014

This has been at the top of my "must try" list for some time. The bottle alone is cool, About two years ago I put this on my list of "must gets." But now that I look over several of the review sites I normally peruse, none of them gave this decent marks. Maybe I wanted it for the bottle, or I was going for something unique. Anyway I opened the bottle and loved the nose. I made some sort of audible noise - dark, some sweet, hints on that maple mentioned on the bottle. Then the taste, started out smooth, rooty, then... can I get a side of flapjacks, 'cuz I got the syrup. That maple dominates the taste. I can still smell it on my upper lip an hour later. It's this dark sweetness that I don't like at all. I'm all for unique flavors - Gales may not be my favorite, but I'm glad they distinguish themselves from other root beers - but this one isn't doing well in my book. Definitely a breakfast drink, but not with meatballs.
